celebrating children of foster carers week with a graffiti workshop – and welcoming hurts so good as our new partner!

As part of Children of Foster Carers Week, Foster Wales Vale of Glamorgan were lucky to team up with Hurts So Good, a local graffiti workshop who kindly offered creative sessions for our foster carers’ children.

Children of Foster Carers Week is a chance to recognise and celebrate the amazing young people who play such an important role in fostering families in the Vale of Glamorgan. These children often share their homes, time, and compassion to help others, and this week is all about acknowledging their kindness and support.

The workshop also brought together children of foster carers and foster children, giving them the opportunity to connect, make friends, and share a fun and creative experience. The children had an amazing time getting hands-on with spray paints, learning new techniques, and designing their very own canvases to take home. It was a fantastic chance for them to be creative, try something different, and most importantly – have fun!

We are also thrilled to share that Hurts So Good have joined us as our first official Foster Wales Partner. Through our new partnership scheme, they’ve generously offered to provide free workshops for our foster children, helping them to express themselves and build confidence through art.

Here’s what Kyle and Ceri from Hurts So Good had to say about the sessions and our new partnership:

“The children seemed to really enjoy themselves, and for us, that’s exactly what we hope to achieve from these sessions.

We want to empower and inspire children and young people through creativity, self-expression, and community engagement. We aim to:

  1. Provide safe, inclusive spaces where young people can explore their creativity through art, music, and other forms of expression.
  2. Promote positive mental health and wellbeing by giving young people a sense of purpose, confidence, and belonging.
  3. Offer guidance and positive role models, helping young people to develop life skills, teamwork, and leadership.
  4. Engage the community through public art projects that bring people together and promote pride in local spaces.
  5. Create sustainable opportunities by securing funding and partnerships to expand our reach and continue delivering meaningful programmes across South Wales and beyond.

In relation to our partnership:  We want to build a strong partnership with Foster Wales Vale of Glamorgan that inspires and supports young people through creativity, confidence, and positive experiences.”

We are so grateful for their support and for giving our young people such a fun and positive experience. A big thank you to everyone at Hurts So Good for their kindness and creativity!
